The All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to be proactive in some revelations coming out from members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over threat of taking over the leadership of the Senate, a group, The National Strategic Group (TNSG) has said.
It said in a statement yesterday by its director of communication, Aliyu Ibrahim, that the situation called for concern.
According to the group, “the ongoing trial of the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and its attendant imbroglio gives us serious reason to worry about the survival of democracy in Nigeria.
“The reason for Saraki’s trial, which borders on false asset declaration, perjury and corruption of monumental proportion, is no longer news.
“But what are perhaps news and worrisome are the antics of some undemocratic PDP members and their cohorts in the ruling APC to provide him some safe-landing palliatives and replace him with their ilk,” the group said.
“But more saddening is the seeming complacency from the ruling APC, which is yet to come to grips with the reality of having wrested power from the failed PDP,” the statement added.
