The one week championship is scheduled to begin on the 22nd of July in South Africa with the nation’s national junior gymnastics team already in the land of the Rainbow hoping to make the country proud.

Nigeria would be contending for medals against top gymnasts from across the continent of Africa in the various gymnastics disciplines of Aerobic Gymnastics; Rhythmic Gymnastics; Trampoline; Double Mini Trampoline and Tumbling. Level 1- 5 Aerobic gymnastics will start this Friday, while higher lever Rhythmic Gymnastics is slated for Saturday.

As at the time of filling this report, Team Nigeria gymnastics are training hard to perfect their skills for a great podium finish at the prestigious African gymnastics championship.

Tony Asuquo takes his competitive team to the tourney with high hope of winning laurels for the country despite no sponsorship coming from the nation’s sports ministry and the Nigeria gymnastics federation.

“Nigerian should pray for us and support us as we forge ahead to make the nation proud, the lads are in great shape and we intend to come back with medals”.

“ Government should invest in gymnastics, this is the sure way of taking kids off the streets, gymnastics alone can fetch the nation 22 medals in a single competition so government should look at that direction” Coach Tony Asuquo stated.
